User Research

Why do you come to Language Pacifica
I interviewed 16 students, investigated the information students care the most when choosing a school, and came up with an enhancement plan for the website so that
students can gain information quicker, school
faculties save time to explain detailed pieces of information, and potential students will be motivated to enroll.

Users goal: Learn English and make friends in the U.S.
Business goal: Make students contact the school.
  1. The current website is not very visually appealing to the main audiences
  2. Students want to know what college they can transfer to after English enhancement.
  3. Students want to know they can make friends and learn American culture while studying English
  4. Students want to process their application easily online
Users demography
  • 60% Pre-college students age: 18-26 study for preparation of college
  • 40% Working professional age: 26 - 60 Study for personal Enrichment (Learn American Culture)

  1. Update the style of the website
  2. Put a map of college students can transfer to after Language Pacifica.
  3. Create a photo gallery, Instagram activity updates and an event calendar to bring student closer to the American culture.
  4. Simplify the application process by enhance the navigation menu and tabs on the pages and make the contact buttons more obvious and clickable

Site Map/User Flow

I achieved the school goal of attracting more students to the school by matching my design goal: Enhance website usability to guide users gain information they need more efficiently and lead them to the contact the school page as the final destination of their user journey.

Style Guide

Styles that make the brand image consistent and trustworthy. I chose main color blue because that is the color of the Pacific ocean. It represents students came across the Pacific to learn English at the "Pacifica". Green is a pop color that makes the website more playful which fits the preference (psychology) of the users.
I took three series of school photos and put some good ones on the homepage of the site. Warm and bright colors just make people happy, doesn't it? :)

Additional Works

I made this video upon request from the school for the school B to B (business to business) promotion. I shoot the school CEO interview and edit the video with some other video resources and music ;) Please press HD for the best watching experience.
